“An artist is someone who can’t not make art.”
While watching a
YouTube video featuring Peter S. Beagle, bestselling author of The
Last Unicorn, I heard
this wonderful description of what an artist is: “An artist is
someone who can’t not make art.”
Drawers that John made
Now I know for sure
that I am an artist. I can’t not make oil paintings, and sculpture,
and write poetry, and write screenplays, and write novels. I make my
personal world artfully complex and aesthetically rich. Densely
populated with art of all kinds. I can’t not make art.
Now, here’s the
artist’s proof:
I
paint for no one. I write music for no one. I sculpt for no one. It
seems I write novels for no one. I must be crazy . . . but at least - I'm an artist.
So . . . I need
fans, preferably super-fans, to spread the word about my books and
write short reviews, and simply forward this link and my Facebook page to your
Facebook friends. And I would love to have you read my latest novel
called Seabird – before
publication.
Here’s
what Seabird is about:
A
young woman with amnesia washes up on a tropical beach in
Southeast Asia to discover
she’s
being simultaneously pursued
by a cutthroat band
of pirates, a ruthless Asian
triad, and the relentless
FBI.
Naturally,
she’s attractive, shrewd, and capable. After all . . . I mean . . .
what else would you expect?
Happy reading,
John Clapp III
